Lance Sloane, producer of webseries Mortal Kombat Legacy, announced plans for a new Mortal Kombat movie at San Diego Comic Con 2013.
Speaking to GamerHub.TV (via CVG), Sloane said the team has "been in greenlight committee for a while at the studio and we've got a great script."
"And we've got a great director with Kevin Tancharoen, who is on board."
Sloane said the team is working out the best time to launch the new movie, and wants to "sync" the release with a new, currently unannounced game. "It's just figuring out the business side of it and when we would do it and when we would launch it and how do we sync up with the launch of the game that they're working on now."
"It's not 100 per cent yet, but we're getting closer every day," concluded Sloane.
Mortal Kombat was released in 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and was released on PC earlier this month. The 2011 title was the first game in the series to be published by Warner Bros., after the publisher acquired the rights and development staff during the collapse of Midway Games.

Ubisoft says Aveline's content is about an hour long, and broken into three missions. While the main plot of Assassin's Creed IV is set before the events of Assassin's Creed III and its Vita spin-off Liberation, Aveline's missions take place after the conclusion of her previous game. éItés a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older,é said lead writer Darby McDevitt on the Ubisoft blog.
éItés not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassinés Creed IV is like a novel, Avelineés missions are like a short story.é
Ubisoft adds that the Aveline missions in Assassin's Creed IV are written by Jill Murray, the writer of Liberation.
éThe present-day is set in Abstergo Entertainment--which is this fun, hip company to work for, at first,é said McDevitt.
éYou are able to access the Aveline stuff because your coworkers are working on retrieving different genetic memories from all kinds of different people.é
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, which features new protagonist Edward Kenway, sails on to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U later this year.

Nintendo has reregistered its Eternal Darkness trademark, with the new document covering downloadable games, something the 2010 trademark did not.
Siliconera spotted the United States Patent & Trademark Office filing, which covers "downloadable electronic game programs; downloadable electronic game software."
Nintendo's intentions for the new Eternal Darkness trademark are not known. The company declined to comment when approached by GameSpot.
"We have no comment regarding this trademark matter," a Nintendo representative said.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem developer Silicon Knights has disbanded. Former president Denis Dyack is currently leading Precursor Games, a Canadian outfit working on spiritual successor Shadow of the Eternals.
The business of AAA game development is "not fine," according to former Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack, who told GameSpot in a new interview that the AAA space is undergoing a similar transition to the one that the film business went through in the early '20s.
"AAA is not fine," Dyack said. "I think our industry now is in a position exactly where Hollywood was in the early '20s--the golden era of films. Making movies like Cleopatra or Ben Hur where everyone was employed and they had thousands of staff. And they made fantastic movies; those were great movies; I still watch them today; they're amazing. But studios looked at it and said, 'We're not making money. This is not working.'"
Dyack is not predicting the demise of major AAA publishers like Activision or Electronic Arts, but rather suggesting that companies of their size will adapt their business practices and become more "focused."
"And then those [film] studios didn't disappear; and it's not to say that it's going to be over for EA or any of the studios. They're still going to be around," Dyack said. "I don't think anyone should kid themselves about that."
"But what did happen is they changed the way they worked and it went more towards the model that we have," he added. "Which I would calléa micro-studio or a very focused studio that grows and expands but are not employees of this one group, where it's basically not internal development. It's much more efficient that way. I think that's where AAA may go, or at least game development can go."
Dyack is now chief creative officer at Precursor Games, the studio behind Wii U and PC game Shadow of the Eternals, a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. The game's Kickstarter campaign was
UK supermarket giant Asda, a subsidiary of US retailer Wal-Mart, is no longer stocking Nintendo's Wii U console at any of its 555 retail stores across the country.
The retailer says it will continue to stock selected Wii U titles through its online store, however. "Asda continues to offer customers a selection of Wii U games and accessories through Asda Direct, but these ranges are currently not on offer in Asda shops," said a spokesperson for the supermarket to CVG.
"Asda will stock [Wii U] games on a title-by-title merit basis as they come along through Asda Direct. We will continue to support Nintendo as a format holder partner," concluded the UK's second-biggest supermarket.
Speaking to MCV, Asda says that it only ever offered the Wii U in 100 stores, but that it is removing the console from stores to make way for more successful hardware, including the 3DS.
Furthermore, Asda said that it will continue stocking the Wii U online but is currently out of stock due to a recent sale on the hardware. In previous months, Asda has repeatedly slashed the prices of 3DS hardware to shift stock. The retailer is still accepting preorders for Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4, both of which are due to launch later this year.
Nintendo refused to comment on the situation, but said it was "looking forward" to the Wii U's year ahead.
"Nintendo UK does not comment on specific business practices with individual retailers. However, as we have seen with Nintendo 3DS, software sells hardware, and with titles such as Wonderful 101, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World already announced for this year as well as the recently released Pikmin 3 and New Super Luigi U having reached number 2 and number 6 in this week's chart respectively, we are looking forward to the year ahead on Wii U."

Rockstar Games today released 12 new Grand Theft Auto V screenshots and announced that it will unveil the game's multiplayer component, Grand Theft Auto Online, sometime in August.
The image batch, labeled as "The Fast Life," shows the game's three protagonists in a variety of settings in Los Santos and Blaine County. One shows Trevor at what appears to be a strip club, while in another, Franklin fires a pistol in the rain while riding a motorcycle.
Little Big Planet developer Media Molecule today announced that its next game, the PlayStation Vita title Tearaway, has been delayed to November 22.
The game was originally scheduled to launch in mid-October, but studio director Siobhan Reddy explained on the PlayStation Blog that Media Molecule needed more time to finish it.
"We are now in the final stages of development, and have come to the realization that we need a little more time than we anticipated to finish the game; to tie all of the mechanics, story and amazing visuals together into the adventure that we want you to play," Reddy said.
Reddy said Media Molecule is "really, really sorry" for the delay.
"Thanks for being patient, please don't be too cross with us, lots of love, Mm xxxx."
Tearaway, a papercraft platformer, was announced last year and will make use of numerous PS Vita features, including the system's cameras and rear touch pad.
Media Molecule revealed an all-new experimental PlayStation 4 game at the console's announcement event in New York City in February.

"The truth is we were doing prototype tests of Pikmin for the DS and 3DS but it turned into unit management with only the touch pen and no matter what it just didn't seem like Pikmin," explained Miyamoto to 4Gamer (translated via ONM).
The problem, according to Miyamoto, is in the game's controls. "We concluded that Pikmin is a game that revolves around action based on its controls and the strategy sits on top of that. Although there are elements that are built on the strategy, there are other overall things that have to be well considered. This complete experience is an important element of Pikmin."
While the Pikmin prototype didn't meet Miyamoto's expectations on the 3DS, the designer says the Wii U's GamePad makes the latest entry in the series accessible. "[Pikmin 3] may seem difficult on first glance, but once you try the controls, it's easy. Even if you find using the pointer difficult, there is a control method using the GamePad similar to the previous GameCube titles that we'd like people to utilize. To that end, we hope people are able to look at this as a carefree, easy action game."
Pikmin 3 will be released in North America on August 4. The game is already available in Europe, Australia, and Japan.
A long development for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified won't be rewarded with strong sales, according to Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz.
In a note to investors today, Creutz said 2K Marin's game is "unlikely to generate any significant sales." This will be fewer than 250,000 units in the United States through the end of the calendar year, he said.
Creutz's estimation is based on the results of an internal analysis of upcoming titles stemming from the number of preorders for the seven weeks since E3.

The original Gears of War had a dog companion, former Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski told Kotaku in a new interview.
"Gears 1 had a canine helper with you that was cut early in the game. Guess word got out to Activision," Bleszinski said.

Also in the interview, Bleszinski said that "there's some truth" to the idea that cutting features can help ship games. "Sometimes you need to ship with the bare minimum of cool and then polish the cut ideas for a sequel, strangely enough," he said.
A new report from the China Labor Watch has alleged that Apple's Taiwanese supplier Pegatron Corp. uses underage workers, pays "insufficient" wages, and forces overtime.
Overall, Pegatron factories are "even worse than those at Foxconn," executive director Li Qiang said in a statement, as reported by Bloomberg.
Foxconn is one of the world's largest contract manufacturers of electronic components and products for companies like Apple, Dell, HP, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, among others.
The CLW found 86 labor rights violations during investigations at three Pegatron factories from March through July. Apple spokesperson Carolyn Wu told the site that though the company had been in close communication with the CLW, some of the claims are "new to us."
"We will investigate these new claims thoroughly, ensure that corrective actions are taken where needed, and report any violations of our code of conduct," Wu said. "We will not tolerate deviations from our code."
Pegatron itself will also investigate the claims, president and CEO Jason Cheng said in a statement.
Apple said it has conducted 15 audits of Pegatron factories since 2007, with the most recent survey of employees finding those making Apple products worked an average of 46 hours per week, Wu said. The CLW does not agree, saying average weekly working hours were between 66 and 69 hours, a violation of China's 49-hour limit.
"Apple has not lived up to its own standards," the CLW said in a statement. "This will lead to Apple's suppliers abusing labor in order to strengthen their position for receiving orders. In this way, Apple is worsening conditions for workers, not improving them."
Oddworld Inhabitants founder and Abe's Oddysee creator Lorne Lanning has said he believes Nintendo will outlive some of its competition and still be around in a hundred years.
"When I look at the history of Nintendo, I say, 'Nintendo is gonna be here in 100 years.' I have no doubt," said Lanning in an interview with VentureBeat.
"I doubt Microsoft will be here in 100 years," he added. "I know Zynga won't be here in 100 years. I've been here longer than Zynga."
In the short term, many games industry analysts
For the Wii U, the Mario maker has currently lined up The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, and Super Mario 3D World for release across 2013 and 2014.
Nintendo, which is a 124-year-old company, was founded in 1889 as a producer of playing cards, but attempted to diversify its business in the 20th century. Before arriving at family-friendly video games, the company attempted to get rich with instant rice, nude playing cards, and discreet love hotels.
Lanning also praised Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, saying, "Satoru Iwata came out and said people were asking him, 'When are you gonna lay off your development staff?' I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was basically, '
"When he said that, in my opinion, he was immortalized in the creative community. I would work with him in a second. When a man in that type of position, in a world where the golden rule is the rule and that's what's expected at public companies, he stood up and said, 'That's not what we're about. We're about building great stuff. We have great people to build great stuff. We're gonna do that.'"
Speaking about his current development projects, Lanning added that "we're still building what we set out to build. Now we have to be clever and smaller in how we think, but we're more self-empowered than we've ever been."
Disney's LucasFilm division recently registered a slew of new domain names related to a mystery project called Star Wars Attack Squadrons. Some of the names include StarWarsAttackSquadrons.com, AttackSquadrons.com, and StarWarsSquads.org.
It's not clear right now if Attack Squadrons is the name of a new film, game, both, or something else entirely. But as Fusible points out, Electronic Arts currently owns the domain names AttackSquadron.com and AttackSquadron.net, suggesting the company is involved in the project.

Elsewhere in the video, Sony confirmed that the PS4 will support party chat, though this functionality was not detailed at any length.
In addition, it was confirmed that the PS4 will be available in jet black at launch, support 3D games, and allow players to carry over their PlayStation Network IDs and avatars.

PlayStation 4 developers will be able to use a mix of direct and flexible memory for making games, Sony has confirmed.
A report last week said that the
Sony's statement, issued to Digital Foundry, said that "we would like to clear up a misunderstanding regarding our 'direct' and 'flexible' memory systems."
"The article states that 'flexible' memory is borrowed from the OS and must be returned when requested--that's not actually the case."
According to Sony, "'Direct Memory' is memory allocated under the traditional video game model, so the game controls all aspects of its allocation," whereas "'Flexible Memory' is memory managed by the PS4 OS on the game's behalf, and allows games to use some very nice FreeBSD virtual memory functionality."
"However this memory is 100 per cent the game's memory, and is never used by the OS, and as it is the game's memory it should be easy for every developer to use it," added Sony.
The developer would not confirm whether the PlayStation 4 would indeed use 3.5GB of its memory for the operating system, or what functions any allocation of memory would be used for.
